Am I A Professional Procrastinator - Free Essay Example

Being a professional procrastinator is not as difficult as it sounds. There are many ways to become a professional procrastinator. Procrastination experts, like myself, insist that time management is the worst enemy of anyone. Allowing procrastination to control someoners life can result in unavoidable frustration, anger, and not doing the best possible. One of the awesome things when it comes to procrastination is that it makes interest where someone might have not seen it before. A procrastinator allows ideas to soak in and come to the surface in an inspirational way. Avoiding problems can be done just as much as they are created. Jumping in and doing something without thinking about it can lead to issues and not being an inspired person. Procrastinating can provide a thinking cushion to figure out what can go wrong and gives time to create ways around those issues. Procrastination might be used to protect oneself when they are not ready to do something. If someone lacks the skills, bravery, or knowledge to do something; procrastination can prevent someone from jumping into something a person cannot do. If someone has been putting off a task because they hate it; or do not want to be associated with it, procrastinating can provide the time needed to get used to the task and eventually settle without feeling uncomfortable. Procrastination can give time to build up the energy needed to continue on after starting a task. Find different ways to procrastinate. Procrastination is not something that needs to be taught to do, but it can be encouraging to learn that someone is not alone when it comes to procrastinating. Everyone procrastinates when it comes to at least one subject. Getting creative with distractions is necessary when procrastinating. It can be something as simple as watching a marble roll across a table. Even learning the choreography for a favorite music video can help with procrastinating. Staring out the window is also a very good way to procrastinate; shapes the clouds look like can be noticed, watch people, count cars, or watch animals outside. Another idea is to simply stare at yourself in the mirror and make goofy faces. If all of these are done for about half hour each, a good chunk of time has been successfully wasted. If the TV has to be used as a distraction, make sure to check all the channels on TV. For example, watch the Spanish channel and try to figure out what is being talked about. This is extremely entertaining, and it gives the opportunity to learn how to speak a different language. How exciting! To be a procrastinator, always choose a movie over a TV show. Every time a show ends, the decision between working, and watching more TV has to be made. When given that decision twice every hour, sooner or later a person will crack and do the work they should be doing. Movies are usually at least two hours, this will use up a huge section of time, and the work will not have to be done. A person can just sit back, chill and relax. Personally, I would choose to watch Netflix or YouTube and go on my phone. This way there are no commercials, and the TV shows will never stop playing. I will go on my phone and watch Netflix for hours on end. This usually does the trick for using my time wisely and procrastinating. This is the main activity that has helped me become such a professional procrastinator. If there is a pop-up add that asks to shoot, poke, punch, kick, or place some object in something, while on the computer, play it immediately. Not only can cool free junk and spam e-mails be won, but there is a never-ending series of these games. Going on funny websites to waste time will also work. Click on any links that can be found. This will allow access to new and interesting information that the mind will soak up instead of working. Go on favorite social medias at least once every half hour. While looking at posts, make sure to refresh the page every fifteen seconds so any new posts are not missed out on. This should keep a person busy for a while and will hold them back from doing any real work. All procrastination happens for a reason. Learning to listen to procrastination can help someone listen to their inner feelings. When they would rather put that challenging task on hold, is it possible that procrastination is telling them what they should be doing is boring? It could also be saying that what someone should be doing is pointless, and there are likely much better things that could be done with the time and energy. The right way to explain this to a boss, teacher, or anyone else will need to be found though. Do not worry about anything. If all time is spent worrying about work that is not done, then procrastination is not enjoyed, and the point of having procrastination in life is missed. Just let the mind rest, clear it of all worries, and focus on enjoying the distractions. Doing work is only as serious as someone makes it. Procrastination lets people enjoy the little things in life, which would otherwise pass by. Procrastination is actually a simple task to perform. Anything that will prevent someone from doing the task that should be done, do it. Becoming a professional is easily done, and anyone can become one. There are just a few tasks to do to become a professional procrastinator. It might be difficult for some to become one; but with a little bit of practice anyone can become a professional, like myself.

The Effects Herbicides on the Food of the Public Over 318,000 acres of principal crops was planted and harvested in the United States in 2015. (Shaping our Food, 176) Agriculture has made a large contribution to the quality of American life. Agriculture has become not only an industry, it is the foundation of civilization. The success of agriculture in the United States can be attributed to the genetic and chemical changes created by pesticides and herbicides. While pesticides and herbicides allow for more crop production, the effect they have on the environment is detrimental. To fully comprehend the magnitude that impacts the world, the biology of herbicides must be understood. An herbicide is a substance that is toxic to plants and is used to destroy unwanted vegetation. Herbicides function in a variety of different ways. For example, glyphosate (Roundup) works by inhibiting an enzyme to create amino acids. The glyphosate has a phosphate-carbon bond that the enzyme is unable to clip, resulting in the death of the plant. Herbicid es work by decreasing the fluidity of the mitochondrial membrane, which in turn slows, and often shuts down, many cellular processes. Many herbicides function in this manner. Gender Essay Example For Students

Gender Essay English 112 section 096March 29, 1999An in Depth Analysis of Gender RelationshipsThroughout history and in all cultures the roles of males and females vary. Relating to the piece of literature Girl written by Jamaica Kincaid for the time, when womens roles were to work in the home. By examining gender roles, then one may better understand how women and men interact and how better to build relationships at home and in the world of business. At the time that this work was written, women mainly stayed at home and did housework while few of the very poorest households required the woman to work in an industrial job. Kincaid wrote of the specific roles and responsibilities that a mother would tell her daughter. By what she wrote, one can fully understand what was expected of a woman at that time and in that particular culture. The object of examining gender roles is to answer the question why should women and men be equal and Are there populations in which men and women are absolutely equal? Are there societies in which women dominate men? (Gender 238) By understanding the culture in which this piece of literature is written, the gender roles and the rules of behavior for a woman, then the relationships between genders can be realized. The general myth about women and their gender role in the American society is that the mother works in the home and supports her man in every way. For each relationship, the people in that relationship must decide the particular roles that they will play. In the literary work Girl, Kincaid shows clearly that the womans role in this work was to serve the family and to work mainly in the house. The mother writing this story tells her daughter that this is how you iron your fathers khaki shirt so that it doesnt have a crease (Kincaid 489). In this marriage, it is understood that the wife is to do the laundry for the husband. Todays society does not always provide these clear roles since many women work a full time job and the house chores are a responsibility for both to handle. Though the woman is still mainly held responsible for the home. There should be a constant search for equality in gender roles. Kincaid explains how the man is working to bring home the money and the wife supports his work. By her ironing his khaki shirt, he is better prepared for work to support his family. Though men and women are supposedly equal, the roles they must play in a particular relationship may be unequal. Even though this work does not show a confli ct, the girl to whom the mother is speaking may have a conflict with her husband by the time she is married. This mother also may have an internal conflict that is not revealed in the work. Meaning that she may hold in problems that she has with the relationship because women were not supposed to reveal their feelings. Women are usually the ones who are more open in a relationship, but at this time in history women were to keep quiet in relationships (Gender 238). The conflict that will be revealed in the future is the desire to have the status that is already gained by men. One can understand that men already have a status since the world of business is geared for typical male roles. That is apparent by how many of the mainstream blue-collar jobs and management positions are held by men. The girl to whom this mother is speaking must make sure that she seeks to make a name for herself and to help other women gain status. This is stated in Humanity: Gender: If so, then modern feminis ts will need to work to alter this key factor, and in the long term our societies will develop greater equality between the sexes (Gender 238). .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b , .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .postImageUrl , .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b , .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b:hover , .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b:visited , .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b:active { border:0!important; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b:active , .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u2fda20d4c7bf3b04a4601268f7fdda2b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The United States of America EssaySince the purpose of examining gender roles is to create equality, then the conflict is that both sexes are trying to make their particular roles closer to equal than they were before. In this piece of literature, the mother speaks directly to her daughter telling her what she is to do in order to become a lady. There are many allusions in the literary work citing how the daughter should act in society. Examples are this is how to hem a dress when you see the hem coming down and so to prevent yourself from looking like the slut I know you are so bent on becoming; and this is how you sweep a yard (Kincaid 489). Each culture has specific way s in which people of a specific gender should act. This culture teaches women to make themselves pure and to work diligently for the family. Particularly in the American society, women are taught to make themselves look feminine and to act in a way that keeps them from appearing as a whore or slut. If a father in this culture were to use the same format as this piece then he would write of how to mow the yard and how to take care of the family. This way of teaching children is very essential for a child to fully grow and become an as effective person as their parents or even better. After all, for a mother and father their most important value to teach their children is to become a better person. In becoming a better person, children should grow up to better understand the opposite sex and work to have better working relationships. Culture reveals the aspects of gender roles and the reasons for why these roles are the way they are and how they are shaped to be this way. In this work, the mother speaking to her daughter relates how she is subordinate to her husband and how the daughter is expected to support her husband. Even though the woman does the housework, women and men together caused this cultural norm. In order for women to gain more independence, then women must take action. This action that will be taken will cause conflict in the future for this daughter. Men will not be able to accept those changes easily but must be taken for there to be equality or at least a better understanding among the sexes. Finally, gender roles are directly related to how a parent teaches his son or her daughter how to follow or change the gender roles. Human Sexuality Essays

Juvenile Crime Essays (548 words) - Crime, Criminology, Childhood

Juvenile Crime Reasons for Juvenile Crime One of the biggest problems, which the United States is faced with, is juvenile crime. The reason experts feel juveniles commit crimes is because of risk factors when they were younger but experts still have not found the main reason why juveniles commit crimes. Some risk factors associated with juvenile crime are poverty, repeated exposure to violence, drugs, easy access to firearms, unstable family life and family violence, delinquent peer groups, and media violence. Especially the demise of family life, the effect of the media on the juveniles today, and the increase of firearms available today have played a big role in the increase of juveniles crimes. The most common risk factor is the demise of the family life and the increase in family violence. Between 1976 and 1992 the number of juveniles living in poverty grew 42% and this caused an increase in crimes by juveniles. Many of these juvenile criminals have been abused or neglected and they also grew up in a single-parent household. Research has found that 53% of these children are more likely to be arrested, and 38% more likely to commit a violent crime as an adult, then their counterparts who did not suffer such abuse. The symptoms of child abuse are high levels of aggression and antisocial behavior and these children are twice as likely to become juvenile offenders. Also improper parental care has been linked to delinquency such as mothers who drink alcohol or take drugs during pregnancy cause their babies to grow up with learning disorders, a problem which leads them to be juvenile criminals. Another risk factor is the effect of the media on the juveniles of today. Before the time a child has reached seventh grade, the average child has witnessed 8,000 murders and 100,000 acts of violence on the television. There is no doubt that heavy exposure to televised violence is one of the causes of aggressive behavior, crime and violence in society. Television violence affects youngsters of all ages, of both genders, at all economic levels, and all levels of intelligence. Long-term childhood exposure to television is a casual factor behind one half of the homicides committed by juveniles in the United States. The increased availability of guns has played a big part in escalating the number of crimes committed by juveniles. In Los Angeles juvenile delinquency cases involving weapon violation grew by 86% from 1988 to 1992, which was more then any other type of juvenile offense. According to a University of Michigan study found that 270,000 guns accompany secondary school students to class daily. This is startling because it shows how many more juveniles are carrying guns and the juvenile use of guns in homicides has increased from 65 to 80 percent from 1987 to 1991. The possession of firearms plays a big cause in the delinquency of children and is playing a bigger role in the crimes which juveniles commit. Another cause of the increase of juvenile crimes has been the effect of children seeing multiple murders and other acts of violence on the television. Finally the demise of the family life and the increase in family violence has been the biggest factor in the increase of juvenile crime. Legal Issues

647 W5D Fish Bone diagram Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words

647 W5D Fish Bone diagram - Essay Example Fishbone diagrams allow for a thoughtful analysis that avoids overlooking any possible cause for a need (Reilly, Myers, Salvador & Trowbridge, 2014). The diagram employs a technique that is easy to implement and that creates an easily comprehensible visual representation with categories. One can concentrate on the group that is most likely to cause the problem. Location can address the need to a given situation. However, the fishbone diagram goes further to indicate the areas of weakness requiring rectification in time before causing sustained difficulties (Wang, 2013). In the example below the problem in question is the â€Å"effect.† It illustrates the Missed Free Throws. The causes are categorised as either service setting or manufacturing setting. In this example, the manufacturing setting groups come first because they have no variability. They include materials, measurement, people, methods and environment. Enough details that identify the exact root causes are then fixed under each major category. The detailed sub-categories are generated from the data collected from the data sheets and brainstorming from group
